Are You Creating Your Heart’s Desire, or Your Mind’s Nightmares?
Are You Creating Your Heart’s Desire, or Your Mind’s Nightmares?
Have you been stuggling to come to terms with the uncertainties of your life? Do you feel powerless in the face of what’s to come? Are your thoughts making you anxious with their negative imaginations? If you said yes, this post is for you.
The other day I was walking around my neighborhood thinking about all the uncertainties in my life right now. My mind was running wild, imagining the worst possible scenarios. Then I remembered something: we never really know what will happen, it’s impossible to know.
This basic fact of reality can either lead you to fear or excitement. For people who struggle with anxiety, their minds are quick to fill the unknown with negative imaginations – thoughts flood their mind with terrible scenarios that play on their greatest fears. Yet there is another option, if you flip your perspective you can find great power in the unknown.
The Power of the Unknown
Not knowing what will happen means that almost anything can happen – this is an exciting proposition! Since you aren’t dead yet you have an impact on the course of events, you have the power to shape your experience by taking action right now.
Regardless of whether you choose fear or presence, your actions affect your experience. Everything you do, and the way you do it, has a definite impact on the way events unfold. The quality of your action is determined by the quality of your consciousness in the moment – that is where your power lies.
Fear or Presence – You Choose
If you are fearful, your actions will be tainted by fear and so you may unconsciously take actions that will lead you to what you are afraid of.
If you are present, you can take action from a place of heart-centeredness. You can consciously direct yourself to make the best of the moment and work towards your dream.
This makes the decision between fear or presence a crucial one: if you choose fear you will use your creative power against yourself, if you choose presence you get to create your heart’s desire.
Work With the Unknown
I’m not saying that everything will go your way – some things are beyond control, but that’s the exciting part! You don’t know what you will create until you do. There is a pivotal relationship between what life throws at you, how you respond, and the resulting creation. The key is choosing to work with the way things are instead of against them.
To make the best out of any experience, you simply need to stay fully engaged in the present moment and make conscious decisions from your heart. If you act out of love, there’s no wrong move you can make.
There is true power in the unknown. Will you use that power to create your heart’s desire, or your mind’s nightmares?

Hi Ben. first time reader. Thank you for sharing and I wish you the very best in all your creative spaces. At the end of the day we all want the same things: peace, love and courage. If we are brave to stay still for long enough to observe the chaos and not panic, then fear can be an excellent teacher. We find our strength in choosing not to freeze but observe, to be courageous enough to keep moving forward despite adversity and opposition. At the end of the day I do a self check, scan my head and body, and ask one question only: Am I growing?
Best wishes to you! Namaste.
